As you are aware, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) released a statement last week regarding the potential for the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the United States.
NCH has reported that they are treating a patient who tested positive for the virus. They are closely following recommended guidelines outline by CDC and they are taking all PRECAUTIONS for the safety of patients and staff.
Prevention – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) advise the following measures to help prevent the spread of Coronaviruses: – Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If no soap and water available, use alcohol based sanitizer. – Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands. – Avoid close contact with people who are sick – Stay home when you are sick – Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others. The use of facemasks is also crucial for health workers and people who are taking care of someone in close settings (at home or in a healthcare facility). _
