Bladder Control Center

The WomanCare Center for Bladder Control is dedicated to providing the most up-to-date bladder disorder treatments so that patients are free of the symptoms that limit daily activities.

Urinary incontinence is the involuntary loss of urine. More than 15 Million American women are affected. Many suffer in silence and never tell their physician. Urinary incontinence is, however, a treatable condition.

WomanCare understands how urinary incontinence affects all aspects of your life and can leave you feeling embarrassed and frustrated. Using a multi-disciplinary approach, we provide the latest in diagnostic testing and customized treatment to eliminate your incontinence.

At the Womancare Center for Bladder Control, we follow treatment guidelines recommended by the National Institutes of Health, Agency for Health Care Policy and Research in treating urinary incontinence.

Finding the Cause

Successful treatment of incontinence begins with accurate diagnosis. Urinary incontinence is a physical disorder that can be treated and usually cured with a non-invasive, non-surgical approach. The WomanCare Center for Bladder Control is directed by a physician who has a special interest and has developed expertise in urinary incontinence.

Staff

Our staff is friendly, professional and uniquely qualified to provide this care. Specially trained nurses and physicians bring a depth of medical knowledge and understanding found in few other treatment programs. Click here for interview with Randall C. Kahan M.D. on Bladder Health (audio).

Treatment Methods

EMG Muscle Strengthening - Pelvic floor muscle strengthening, through EMG, is easiest to understand by comparing it to biofeedback. This has been shown to be effective for 85% of patients with urinary incontinence. Unlike surgery and the use of medication, biofeedback is a non-invasive, pain free technique. Biofeedback has no side effects. It is one of the most cost effective treatments available today.

Behavior Modification - These are physical and mental techniques that can decrease the frequency of urinary incontinence in many individuals. These techniques are usually used in conjunction with biofeedback therapy.

Medications - Medications can be used temporarily in conjunction with other treatments.

Surgery - In certain cases, medical treatments are not effective in controlling incontinence. Certain patients are candidates for a minimally invasive procedure called TVT – transvaginal tape. This procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis and ensures a quicker return to normal activities. Click here to view a video regarding TVT procedure and what to expect (video).

Insurance

Most commercial insurance companies and Medicare will cover the testing and treatments. Staff members pre-certify treatment before beginning therapy.
